August 5, 2014 – Board Minutes

The Ipswich Outboard Club Board of Directors held a regular meeting on Plum Island Sound, Ipswich, Ma. Commodore Wright called the meeting to order at 6:24 pm. All IOC officers and directors were present except for Donald Clapp and John Soininen who were excused..

The minutes from the previous meeting on June 10, 2014 were approved.

Secretary’s Report:

  • A very sincere thank you was received from Elmer Barth’s daughter, Rebecca, detailing everything she appreciated the IOC Board did during her father’s passing.
  • 4 new applications were received with proper documentation. Motion made to add all to the waiting list, seconded and approved. Waiting list now at 50.
  • An issue was reported with the Ipswich Post Office and the IOC mailbox. It has now been settled but some mail was not received.

The secretary’s report was approved as submitted.

Treasurer’s Report:

  • Checking Account                     $15,797.92
  • MMCH Account                           35,017.56
  • Total                                      $50,815.48
  •  New bills are in and will be paid.

The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Vice Commodore’s Report:

  • The moorings are at Diamond Marine.
  • Weed-wacking is being done around the catwalks.
  • The knotweed has been treated and will get another dose.

The vice commodore’s report was accepted as submitted.

Old Business:

  • Burgees will be researched further, possible burgees.com.
  • Clothing website was discussed. Joe Wright will coordinate and offer a selection with the annual mailing.
  • IOC Board contact list will be created for internal use.
  • The new scholarship fund will be worked on and dedicated in memory of a different person each year.

New Business:

  • A report was given by Joe Wright and Dave Morin on the situation with the ramp repair. Two consecutive minus tides are needed to remove and install grout. Dave Morin and Joe Wright met with Gary and Chris Champion where Gary reported his involvement with the repair and supplied a detailed letter to the IOC with his testimony on the events taken place with North Shore Marine. The IOC Board will now be responsible for the repair and conversations with North Shore Marine. Joe Wright and Dave Morin reported on the conversations taken place with Gary Champion.
  • The next board meeting will be held on September 2, 2014 at the home of Rick Tucker at 7 pm.
  • Motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:10 pm, seconded, and approved.
