November 4, 2014 – Board Minutes

The Ipswich Outboard Club Board of Directors held a regular meeting at the home of Joe Wright, Ipswich, Ma. . Commodore Wright called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm. All IOC officers and directors were present except for John Soinenion who was excused.

The minutes from the previous meeting on October 7, 2014 were approved as amended.

Secretary’s Report

  • Mailbox and emails are clean.
  • Mass state filing has been completed for 2014.
  • A bill will be coming for 4 ramp washings in 2014.

The secretary’s report was approved as submitted.

Treasurer’s Report (read by Liz Lombard and Dwight Thompson):

  • Checking Account           $  2,920.01
  • MMCH Account             $ 35,047.07
  • Total                                 $37,967.08
  • Tax bills paid.
  • A $500 payment will be paid to the dockmaster to cover raise, taxes, and holiday bonus.
  • About $3500 left in expenses for 2014.
  • $62,334 loan balance as of today.
  • The draft 2015 budget was presented and discussed. A few tweaks will be made to approve at the November meeting.

The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Vice Commodore’s Report:

  • Docks are out-thanks to all who helped.
  • The docks look OK. Will need some repairs for the 2015 season.
  • Lights will be shut off for the winter.
  • The porta-potti has been removed.
  • The cable will be installed.
  • The shed will be cleaned out.

The vice commodore’s report was accepted as submitted.

Old Business:

  • The website is working well and being maintained.

New Business:

  • A letter was received from Gary Champion requesting the IOC member list, requesting full disclosure from the club’s attorney, and further bylaw changes. After a discussion, it was determined to mail Mr. Champion’s bylaw change request with the annual meeting mailing.
  • A letter was received by Gary Champion’s attorney, Michael Malamut, with references to laws about the member list. After a discussion including a conversation with the club attorney, a motion was made to have the club Attorney, David Stasio, contact Atty. Malamut directly to discuss the law and make a determination. All correspondence from Atty. Malamut and Gary Champion will be given to the club’s attorney for response. Motion seconded and approved.
  • Commodore Wright wishes to be commodore again in 2015. This was met with an ovation.
  • The annual meeting is being planned for 1/20/14 at the St. Lawrence Literary Society.
  • The next board meeting will be held on December 2, 2014 at 7 pm at the home of Rusty Spencer, 2 Salt Marsh Ln, Ipswich, Ma.
  • Motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:40 pm, seconded, and approved.
